OCULEUS TALK for Dalrymple SWI

DALRYMPLE COMMUNITY HALL

This wonderful visit was memorable for two reasons: it was the first talk about my great grandfather since the death of my mother, Allison - the keeper of the scrapbook - in August 2025, at the age of 94, and new family images I have unearthed. If that added a poignant edge to the occasion, the second factor was the presence of mum’s cousin, Jennifer, the only remaining grandchild of OCULEUS. She eloquently added anecdotes about him, passed down to her by her mother, Ailsa, his youngest child.

As for the Dalrymple SWI ladies, what a treat it was to talk to such an enthusiastic, animated and friendly bunch, who asked such interesting questions, and certainly appreciated my additional research regarding KNOCK-JARDER , mentioned by my great grandfather. You definitely kept me on my toes!

Jennifer and I also had the honour of doing a spot of SWI ‘judging’ in our best Prue Leith style. THANKS EVERYONE!
